Knap-in update,
Well, I went to the Knap-in and had a great time! Spent WAY too much money on really cool rock and got some new tools, too! Met some old friends and made some new friends. And I got a SIGNED hand ax that I got to watch the knapper (Ron Fuller) make!
Had "horse-sitter" problems (!) Friday night so didn't get there until about 9:00am on Saturday. I stayed up until 2:30am Saturday night before heading for the tent, but they were still going strong and I heard they finally went to bed about an hour or so later.
Glad I didn't get there Friday night because they stayed up that first night until 6:30 am....LOL
Friendly people, good food, and a real family atmosphere, very much like it is here...they take care of their own... I highly recommend it.
Ron...nice meeting you and your wife, wish you could have stayed longer...maybe next time we can get you both hitting some rock! Hope you didn't end up spending too much money, like I did, LOL!
I only got one arrowhead made, mostly watched, but started two more. I will post pictures when they are done. The finished one is "Ice Cream Opal" and the others are flint and obsidian.... AND I came back with ideas for a lot of other stuff....
Next one there is in October, I'll post the date...
Of course, there is the one in July in Oklahoma....maybe I can get off work...it's only about 10 hours.... hehehe
Lynne (smiling at the prospect of pounding more rock..!)

beaudro, The Oklahoma one is the weekend after the 4th of July (Thurs. thru Sunday, I believe) and it is in Spavinaw, intersection of 20 and 82 (northeast of Tulsa). I will be talking to Ron soon and will get exact info. then. (He is sending me some elk sinew and some Staghorn Sumac branches for a pipe, a fire straw and a flute.) I'm going to TRY to get to that one...money may be too tight. If the gas continues to go up in price I may have to save my money for Rabbitstick. Anybody else goingthat might want to carpool? Lynne

BB, The next closest is probably the Oklahoma one. There is a Fall knap-in in Vinton at the same place we were last week. Around October... if you want to come to that one, why don't you plan on camping? It's a long drive to do twice in one day! Lynne

I think this is the website I'm thinking of, some of the knappers show up at rendezvous around here. I always thought that was something good to learn how to do, so much stuff to do, so little time. www.missouritrading.com/index.html
