Boy Chaz,, ya got me,lol. Ken Smith told me to sew my buckskin with the welts like this. Ken's been stitchin' braintanned buckskn for a number of years now. Youre very astute Chaz. there are no stitches showing. Ken told me to make very small tight runnning stitches. i used to make quilts once upon a time. stitching on those was 10 -12 sts per in. Using an awl however could weaken the seam, so may be better to use a fine glovers needle. looking fwd to seeing more of your crafting.

Billy,Got that pattern from a Native guy I met in New Mexico,Blackhorse Mitchell is his name he is an artist & does a lot of Navajo craft,he told me to use rawhide for the soles could'nt get any over here,so I used some veg tanned leather & painted the sole with white leather paint,wet formed it around some ply cut to my daughters size.2feathers
