the barrell after the loading lever and wedge has been removed removing the nipples from the cylinder

the blue strip solution. 2 parts muriatic acid to 2 parts water. use the cloths pin and cotton ball to apply

after stripping. it took 10 minuets to strip the barrel a cylinder. you must neutralize the acid on the gun metal by soaking the parts in water mixed baking soda. if you dont the acid will etch the metal

washing the parts. wash the gun parts in hot soapy water. you do this to remove any oils. any dish washing soap that cuts greese will work best \ after washing

we are now ready to polish. first thing you need to soak your 0000 steel wool in alcohol over night. steel wool has oil in it and will contaminate your cleaned gun parts. the alcohol will dissolve the oil. the steel wool will be more brittle and will not last as long, so have a few extra ready as well

we started out polishing with 180 grit wet/dry sand paper we will polish with 220 and 320 grit. with rust blue a bright polish is not required heres the 220 grit polish and the 320 grit

the barrel and cylinder after plugging use a wooden dowel that is to big and carve it to size. use a rubber mallet to drive the plugs in

scrub with a towel soaked in alcohol. this is very important. will get all the oil off the barrel and cylinder
