I made a new shirt for Rabbit Stick it is antelope and hand sewn. It took 5 antelope skins to make it and I used one of the skins just for fringe, I like fringe. I don't do bead work so I will have to find someone to trade with for some bead work.

These are very nice buckskin shirts.Aunt was telling me other day, that one of my other Aunts had made an Indian wedding dress. She made it for her sister-n-law.(Cherokee)Asked if I had seen it and I hadn't.So,this makes me curious...... I wonder???Did she use white or ivory colored buck skin???Or perhaps the shade, or near the shade of one of these.... Just curious???How many beads???And what kind of beads???If I was supposen...I suppose she used whatever the Cherokee woman wanted her to use. Each one of these shirts are beautiful in their own right.....very talented workmanship. It's always nice to see whatever they make out of these buckskins. My favorite...the first I'd seen,a beautiful or should I say handsome buckskin Jacket. But not for me..that'd be for the fella,I like the dainty dress...something pretty.Saw one of those nice jackets IN Cimmoron,NM last summer/almost fall. The dresses would have to be made just a certain way for me to want to wear one.Fringe is always nice on jackets, shirts, pants,or dresses.A fella looks mighty handsome in his buckskin jacket. One of these days...maybe I'll buy me one of those pretty dresses.But...like they told me in Cimmoron....depends what part of the country you lived in...for how you dressed.Turqoise.....that looks rather nice with buckskin..or with fabric...or so many choices. I also like the Red Turquoise/Garnet,or Blue Turquoise. All work that I see,I always appreciate it. Just knowin, someone took the time to create these. It would be a good time to see anymore pictures anyone has of Buckskin.Just has a refresher...to what one can create with it.shoes,boots,mossacins,slippers.The list goes on.....

Hello Red Thunder, These are all very Beautiful dresses. The fourth picture to the bottom,it is so very interesting how the color fades and blends.Would you be willing to tell us, how that happens. Many on the site may already know how that happens. But,for the new viewers,or newer viewers, such as myself, would you be willing to tell us about it.It seems as each dress,is made to complement /flatter the different wearers.Body shape and style....perhaps it is more than that...but would you share with us,your views?Red Thunder for example;is the dress significant to a style worn by certain tribe?Perhaps different dresses are made for different occasions?Or simply that there are different patterns, to draw the attention of different wearers. As we have so many styles of dresses, for todays fashions."Great selections...of dresses....and above with all the different boots."Thank You,"for sharing with us all.....

Hi WhiteDove, Nice you like the dresses. For the color fades and blends I wet the hide a little with water and sometimes water/vinegar that will let the powder retract better into the hide, then spread out earth paint, less powder on bottom, rub in the powder with sponge or rag to what I wanted it to look. I mix all powder on smaller pieces first until I got what I wanted. All dresses are for different wearers or I might say tribes, with different patterns, the fourth picture is Cheyenne dress to wearing at ceremony's but could even be wearing at any time if like so. I use to look at old pictures in books and then slowly working to get the pattern as close as it look on the picture. I do like this for I never have ready pattern for all kind of what I create, its a harder way to do but its my way, and I think the natives never used pattern, better to fit it how the hides/body looks IMO! Well hope this make some sense for you?
