if'n i'm not mistaken.cody correct me if i'm wrong but i believe the Confederate Flag idea was originally a Christain symbol.the stars was add for each southern state that suceeded from the union. it's a damned shame that history has been re written to please a few people who don't want to accept the truth.but in this day and time that flag is thought of as a flag of hate and it's not.slavery was on it's way out.it would had been done away with without the war.you read any old journal from a old confederate solider and he'll say he wasn't fighting for no darkie(slave)many of the fighting men in the south had no slaves couldn't afford them.most felt that what little crops they produce was to precious to let anyone else mess with them.it's been said that the winners write the history books it's a damn shame that almost all of the history of america from the 1800's is not completely true.just ask any native american.makes you wonder about the rest of american history

What sucks is that not only was the war not fought over slavery but the Generals such as Sherman used to burn bridges behind him so the freed slaves or more corectly the slaves that their home were burned by the Union Army couldnt folow them so they wouldnt have to feed them .You read about how bad Quantrel was suposed to be but the yankee troops would burn rape pilage everywhere they went kill civilians (noncombatants ) and these are the same generals that went west to do the same geneside on the Native American but you read the history book and the native American did terrable things to white people but what do you think I would do if a invading army started stealing my land and raping and killing women and chileren? Sorry about the long winded reply I have a thing about truth.

yep beaudro it aint been that long ago.and the state of louisiana still hasn't recovered from all the losses it suffered during that bloody conflict.millions and millions of dollars worth of cotton was burned in shreveport correct me if i got the wrong town.shreveport may be the wrong town but it was along the red river where this happened.anyhow all this cotton was destroyed by union troops that it actually hurt the whole country, and damn near broke the state of louisiana. i ain't trying to make no one fill guilty for what happened back then. no one that i know fought in it.i have ancestors who fought but don't know none of them.none of us here do. respect there memory reguardless of what side they fought for.cuz both sides thought they were on the right side fighting for the right thing. it is both the soliders on the north and south that fought to make this country what it is today.it is our history and though the right thing was not always done on both sides it got us to where we are today.learn the truth, don't let a "little man with a big erasor change history" to make it more pollitaclly correct.cuz no war is.i'll step down off my soap box now

thanks you guys. i know a bit more now.i still think our situation is more complex here, but i hope that my love for my fellow citizen, no mattr what colour, smell , culture, language, religeon would maybe just save my butt or throat. it sounds terrible, writing it , but statistics show that there is a chance of me being murdered on my farm, and my wife being raped. i promise that i would not speak bout such terrible things on this forum again.!

That same bit of information isn't news to me Hannes. But from what I know of you, I can tell that your love for your fellow human bean IS real.. Hopefully it matters! Sure you must be trying a bit to prepare for the worst?
I hope you feel like writing whatever you like, Hannes. we in America all are aware of violence. If not, than we should be. Freedom isn't free and unfortunately some of us are paying for our freedom dearly.
Still in all, it doesn't make me want to jump on the next flight to s africa to teach folks there braintanning anytime soon. I hope you are first in line to get LT's upcoming DVD.. If anyone's deserving of a few braintan secrets, it may be you! And if I can come up with an extra backwards skunk hat. I'll send it to YOU. not trying to make light of the situation you could be in, but maybe I am.. one respect there is no sense in worrying about it and in another well i can see you have every reason.
Well nothing like war to make a person live a bit better. Sounds a bit WRONG wouldn't you agree? the Indians in our country being pushed the way they WERE, made the most of every moment they had. Probably why the folks that became slaves to the Indians sometimes really didn't want to go back to lives that they had before.. pretty crazy. pretty scary. Someone once accused me of romanticizing Indians.. LOL.. I think not!
Let me know when you want to come to america to learn bt'ing.. I will guaranteed teach you what I know. I'll be guaranteed to learn MORE from you and your better half as well.. you can camp out in my teepee. Too bad about your bum shoulder.. kind of makes it difficult for me to turn you into my braintanning slave. I have plenty of rawhide.. we can dye it any color. perhaps you can teach my kids how to braid 'stuff'. I can't teach them a thing! So if you decided you'd enjoy camping out with us guaranteed wouldn't be easy.
Warm regards my dear africaaner friend, you are in my prayers. paulette j
ps.... I've got a gun or two, we can buy bullets and target practice.

Very good words! I'm going to have to borrow your quote for several occasions in the future. My great grandfather fought in the civil war, I got a copy of the original muster where he failed to show up in roll one morning. I felt sort of ashamed of it , but now I've learned they just went home to family, gave up on something that turned out to be a political wedge anyway.

Yes I agree, Allen. Good words indeed. The true history may make our children a little more interested in learning it and learning from it as well. Awful scary thinking that this repeats itself so we have no choice but to make the most of whatever time we spend. I'm glad that there are folks like you who aren't easily led into believing lies.

beaudro, i got that "little man with a big erasor" from a song.thats the reason i quoted it. believe it or not the song is one of those heavy metal songs.the song is called "hook in mouth". it's about politics.if you can tolerate that kind of music it makes alot of good points in the song

tolerate it? haha, thats megadeth, last voting season I put ted nugent on the write in ballot, haha. I was joking about nugent, but he would be good,, I'm a rocker from way back, love all kinds of music. I stand up when they play sweet home alabama also. I'm a jazz musician at heart, but I beleive merle haggard and black oak arkansas should still be on the radio with pearl jam,, sort of mixed up huh?

I got to see Black Oak Arkansas live at a biker rally back in 2005. It was a good show. Of course there was plenty of cold beverages around ;D
