Nice Paulette. I just cant wrap my pea brain abound all the adding and decreasing in a pattern. Your obviously functioning on a much different plane than I. Nice.

Here are pics of my girls mittens. Longtrail -- It takes a little time to learn, but I belong to two great spinning and weaving gilds. The women and men there are just so willing to take the time to teach you. It is wonderful! They want to see these old skills passed on. I owe a great debt to the woman who taught me to knit and twine. I hope that I can be like her. She was dying after a long hard battle with cancer and yet she was still setting up knitting classes for her visiting nurses.

I've been busy spinning. But since it has gotten cold I've been trying to catch up on my knitting. Here are a few of my projects. Hats Socks

Me three! Those are awesome Mrs Stallsmith! Nice work and nice warm heads and paws on those kids! I'll bet they really love them! Noticed that wool with the lanolin in repels water just right.. Wool stays warm even when wet.. greatest tribute to wool, that and being naturally fire retardant. I've been meaning to get some processed fleece to spin on this last wheel I bought a couple of years ago now.. it's collecting dust and looks like it could use some more oil. I think I'll find my friends number and give her a call TODAY.. possibly arrange to take my wheel along and do some spinning with her or some of the spinning guild for a change! Might be nice to GET OUT for awhile.. away from kids hubby and animal furs and skins. I think I really do like TM's idea.. I can see cutting out some heavy leather..maybe even Bison soles and using some giant wool and double ptd needles and making some mostly ribbed moccasocks..that is a great idea.. I just don't have the time to spend spinning or knitting but yes, the notion is a good one!! He's kind of a handy comedian to have around, isn't he?? Maybe I should get some RED WOOL from my friend for these moccasocks.. Bet she's got a few big balls of red roving that she might let go of at a discount! You should see this woman, Liza..she has a wool (fiber) obsession.. there is wool and roving and sheep EVERYWHERE by her place! I did go by her place a few times last month looking for her and noticed she still has a flock of shetlands in a pasture. Wish I did rather than the two ponies we have mowing down 24/7!! This spinning wheel is a 'wool burner'! but the good thing is, that it doesn't use much of the spun fiber to knit something up quick! Just have to 'do it'! LOL. Thanks for showing your work..nice change of scenery and gets the old wheels turning :-). Have a Merry Christmas, you all.

Thanks guys and gals,
It is something I really enjoy doing. I actually have a pair of knitted slippers that I felted and put leather on the bottom. I've had to repair the knitting, but the leather is holding up fine. lol I have two more hats to go, and I also have another pair of socks started. I have to say I love wool socks! I'm hoping to get to the point where I can spin my own sock yarn. I would like to learn how to "paint the yarn" for different color patterns. I know, I know .... I don't have time to do it all. lol
Going to a guild meeting can really pay off. I hardly ever go any more. But this fall I drop in on one of their meetings, and found out someone I knew had a Traditional Ashford spinning wheel for sell at a give away price. Guess, where this wheel is today?? Yeah, It sits in my living room. I enjoy it, but wish that it was double drive. I still enjoy my drop spindles too. That first wheel that I was given... Well it needs work. I might try to repair it this summer. It is amazing how fast I can spin fiber now that I have a wheel. Feeding this wheel fiber is going to cost me. ;D
Oh, I bought two Icelandic Sheep two add to my flock. I currently have two Black Welsh, and by Christmas my sister (who found the deal) will be delivering the two Icelandic sheep here. I will wait to next fall to breed them. I have been so blessed. There is a local Black Welsh breeder who will let me use his ram, and I also found a local Icelandic breeder who will also let me use her ram. We will probably use the lambs for fiber, leather, and eating. I just want a very small flock. (Famous last words!!)
I love your spinning wheel. I have a friend who has one. I would love to up-grade to a better wheel. I am trying to be satisfied, and not look at the adds. lol What I have works, and if I can fix up the other wheel then I will have for both the kids and I. I'm having problems telling my one daughter's spinning from mine so after Christmas we are going to paint bobbins so each of us and tell ours apart.
Have a great Christmas, paweaver
