Well here it is 11:30 at night and Joe and Dave are headed out to pack in Dave's elk. He said it is a small antlered 5-6 point, points are counted on one side here, but he said the body is the biggest he's ever gotten. Its about a two mile walk in, and they have to pack it out to a certain point before they can put it on elk carts. Dave quartered it out there and bagged it up. He also was real careful not to mess up the skin as we are anxious to see how our method works on a nice big buck. I don't expect them back until about 2:30 or so. Dave said since we don't want the brains he's going to just saw the antlers off. But I will get a photo of them I guess. I'd like to have had a photo of the elk in whole, but am not going to walk out with them as we are expecing two more hunters to arrive at any moment and want to be here to greet them. So, it's been a great season so far. Dave said he's going to hang around for a few days and get a nice muley buck. So maybe I can get a photo of that. Yea!! lt

The other two hunters showed up and I got them settled in and decided to go for a putt under this beatirul moon, and see if I could pack some meat out on my fourwheeler. Sure enough, I found them and saved them about a mile's worth of packing. They were using game carts, and most of the go was on the level, but through an area that had lots of cows and the going was really rough. Since they had such a distance to go, they decided to bring the four quarters, rack and hide out all at once. Needless to say they were glad to see the fourwheeler lights coming in the distance.

Makes me hungry ,every time one of us kill one we fire up the grill and grill the backstaps while we finish skinning and such.

Geez, too Dave and I, both experienced wild game butchers, a little over six hours to get that badboy in the freezer. Anything he didn't steak, we ground. Didn't seem like that job would ever be over with. Im' beat, now to start dinner.
