i just got this old winchester model 1897. it's a 12 gauge pump shot gun with a hammer. the deal was too good to pass up i've heard them called thumb buster cuz the bolt comes back to cock the hammer will peel the hide off your thumb. it hasn't happened to me YET ;D any how my old gun was made in 1900. there is no stain left on the wood and the original blue has been rubbed off. the metal is just polished bright. for a shot gun that is 110 years old it is very tight and shoots like a dream. them evil rabbits and squirrels better watch out this fall
