I'm working on a pouch for my phone..well was thinking to hang my phone in it but I'm just not real crazy about the pouch as it is so it's back to the drawing board and I'm cutting up some more deerskin thats been dehaired/grained and didn't make it to the softening pt.. this last attempt at Babiche wasn't thin enough skin used on the netting so it didn't come out like I was shooting for.
It's too thick.. the mesh part and should be real fine, IMO.
I stitched down some quills that I'd dyed with Rit fabric dye awhile ago and well even those are wrong.. on the back side of the pouch I was making I just randomly line stitched down quills..however the nylon/linen thread just doesn't hold the quills to the skins real well.. at least that's what I think is going on! so will just have to keep practicing.. be nice to use some hand harvested sinew for thread.. that might really work well but I just haven't gained that talent quite yet! I have plenty to work on..GAIN.. lol.
Random size stitches quills etc.
this looping stuff is really quite easy..looks a bit complicated but it's not.. just like whipstitching and the coolest thing about this looping stuff is that if you should make a hole in the mesh/net it will not unravel like say knitting or crocheting would.. probably the toughest part of this is cutting the right size lacing and then say getting evenly sized 'loops' but really neither one is all THAT difficult..just time consuming labors of love is all.. hahaha.. yep.. ain't it so?.. all of it.
