Is kind of OK.. but then it can be TIRING. So using a pw'r to help out helps big time. yeah wish it consistently grained! oh well such is life.. all these little hurdles..Trials and tribulations?? possibly.. anyway the perils of Paulette leads me to possibly collecting up to a dozen skins in one day.. SO>>>>> I'll take advantage of the fact that it's getting pretty dang cold out there and just flesh and fold and fresh grain them and go from there. Once the hair is off they take a bit less 'space' in the freezer and always easier to start off where you left off by using the deep freeze..anyway.........
This is the monster buckskin that I found in the barrel the other day.
I got very excited graining this one. Very very nice heavy deerskin. after fleshing it with the washer I then put in on the waistbeam and powerwashed a lot of the fur from it. I noticed that it's eyes were glazy so it may have been killed several days before I got it. Sometimes they're more difficult to grain then.. with these big skins however the majority of the grain since it is so much epidermis was easier to grain than the smaller size deer.
well this is how much I had removed of the hair at least..
the grain was patchy so I didn't bother standing for long before I just pushed off 90% easy, graining fresh like that just gives one so much JOY.. (but) the last 10% was pure HEdoublesticks! Kinda like 'up jumps the DEVIL'!!
So......glad I had some energy on reserve for that! whew.. monster!Good thing my knife wasn't real sharp.. had me wondering, "now why don't I just cut those monster necks right off?" there was some pretty good scoring on the flesh side too but I went ahead like a dummy and worked at removing all the grain I could.. Even on the verticle it was very difficult to remove! makes you wonder why you're a wet scraper too! oh well... must be a purpose to jumping higher and higher hurdles one places on oneself hey? this monster is soaking in the relaxing solution now.. my guess is the worst is NOT yet to come.
