Finally, after a long winter and much researching I'm finished with my camp knife. Handforged from 1950's chevy leaf spring, maple handle ,iron bolster, much cussing , much snow , and lots of thought. This is copied from an original seen in the Museum of the Fur Trade, Chadron Nebraska.

Sorry I meant to post on your work Beau. That is a helluva knife there. I love the looks of the deerskin below it too. It's perfectly 'imperfect' and I personally love the character. Can't say much about the knife itself as I just don't know them. However I do recall the name of the museum as it is a place that my good friend Ken Smith likes to frequent. One of his favorite haunts I'm sure! Thx for sharing the great pic.
So will you save the knife as is? Or will you put some wear on it and if not why not? Kind of do like to glean what info I can about these things that obviously you're all very passionate about! Thx.

you can bet I'll use the knife. I'd like to see James make a replica of the original... hint hint.

Glad to hear James, I did tons of research on it and that was the hard part. If you intend on replicating the originals I've got information on them and original pics. If I could only find horn scales wide enough I should have used them instead of the maple.

Email sent James. I sent what both Buckskin Billy gave me and what I had found. I hope you top the list of makers of this knife. Some of the replicas out there are good, fair, and poor, but none really nail it perfect.
