got me this 45-70 sharps business rifle in a trade some time back and have been itching to use it. took this young doe this afternoon with it. 405 grain soft lead bullet i cast from a lee mould, home made bullet lube made from real bees wax fresh off the hive( i know a bee keeper) lard and deer tallow. 65 grains of 3 f goex black powder in a remington case and ignited off with a federal match grade primer. this is a mean load on both ends.

hey james i sure did. it is a fine knife. made me a buffalo raw hide sheath with the hair on for that knife. i carry it every where.
hey thunder moon. that 45-90 would be a good one to have. it can be loaded down to match a 45-70 or loaded up when i little more ump is needed.
just remember any thing other than lead bullets and black powder is a passing fad

I just hit one broadside last night and wrinkled up the hood of the little car.. good thing the car is close to the ground or I might've hurt it. I have never hit a deer dead on.. it went air born and stayed up.. thought about lying down..but headed for the fenceline and cover.. coyotes may have found it and killed it.. that was a bummer.. could have been a LOT worse though.
That is an awesome jacket Thundermoon.. Beautiful. bet that one is comfortable too. thanks for sharing.

having compooter issues, so i've been slow to respond. yes i made the pants thunder moon. made them from some brain tan buckskins i did a few years back. they where nice and soft when i first finished them, but now after years of wear and tear there stained with blood(some of my own) and black powder gunk and they are dern near bullet proof now and are still comfortable to wear. i love the out law josie wales jacket i have always wanted one. does this guy have a web site? i may have to get him to make me one
