Looks like nobody else on here is into reloading, so I'll get this topic started. I reload just about everything I shoot. I load my own hunting ammo and found that I can make my loads a lot more accuarte than a factory can for a rifle. I load for the rifle or pistol and the factory just loads ammo for nothing in particular. They load theirs to fit all brands and mine is loaded just for mine.
So right now here's what I load for.
.44 magnum .45acp 45/70 .270 30-06 7.5X55MM Swiss Of course I could load up for any otrher caliber that I wanted to add by just getting the dies for that caliber.
I have also found that the same caliber of rifle will have different size chambers. I load for a couple of 30-06's of mine and have to do each one different to obtain the utmost accuracy.
Anybody else on here into reloading?

yeppers, i'm a reloader also.me and grizz was gonna do a thread on reloading hoping to spawn some interest in it.just hadn't had time to get started, with working a full time job and tring to braintan hides and tending to grizz(thats a back breaking chore) i've been kind of busy.hell i usually shoot at lest once a week at my house and havn't made time for that either, just got to get my priorities straight i reload for: 30-06 45 colt 45 scholfield 44 mag 44 colt 44 russian 32-20 12 gauge i know what you mean about the same calibers shooting different in different guns. my dad also a reloader (my teacher) reloads two diferent loadings for his 270's.he has a model 70 win and a m77 ruger in 270's that shoot different.he also loads different 30-60 than i do.we both use 150 grain Seirria Game King and IMR 4350 powder and Federal MATCH Grade primers but the powder charge is different, same with his 270's. this pass hunting season daddy gave me some 30-06 bullets that he loaded with 165 grain nosler bullets and i was lucky enough to take a young 3 point with one of those and it was brutal.so i may be raiding some of dads stuff.he knows 1,000's of loads and just when i think i got them all figured out he throws something new at me that makes me reliaze that he is still the master and i'm just the young grasshopper

do you load anything with black powder?

My blackpowder load is just what I pour down the barrel of my TC Hawken. I use the round lead ball in it as it has the 1 in 66 inch twist barrel. But I have talked with an Elk hunter that uses the same twist rate barrel in his blackpowder rifle that uses a Powerbelt bullet that you can buy at Wally-World and he claims it's good for taking elk. I'll have to get the correct information on that bullet as I can't remember the grain size weight of it.

Now for my .270, I only use one powder and get the best results with IMR4831 and a 130 grain bullet. I use Nosler ballistic tips because I like the way they put a whitetail down so fast. I don't like the destruction they do to the meat, but I mostly hunt in late afternoons and don't like to trail one out in the dark.
For my 30-06's I use two different powders, IMR4350 and Hodgdon Varget, getting good results out of both of those powders. I load 150 grain Nosler ballistic tips in them also. But sometimes I like to load up some 165 grain Sierra Gamekings as they do good too.
For the 45/70 the one and only powder that does the best in it is IMR3031. I load 405 grain hardcast bullets and also a 300 grain jacketed hollowpoint.

I load for a few, actually too many cartridges.
22 hornet 223 6.5x55 7x57 30-30 30-06 7.5-55 8x57 35 Rem 38-55 375H&H 41 Swiss 45-70 458Win mag .380acp 38Spc .357 mag 9mm 10mmauto 44 mag and 45apc + 12 ga
Have molds ranging from 22cal up to a 535 45 cal mold for my long range BPCR.
The only problem is finding enough time to do any of them justice, molding, reloading and shooting.
I really like the new Ouachita Parish range , especially since it is only about 4 miles from my parents house in W.Monroe.

i use 70 grain of 3f goex blackpowder in my muzzleloader, with a 54 caliber round ball i cast from a lyman mold.i use tire weights mixed with lead soilder to cast my bullets.it does good out of my 44's and 45's but i think it's a bit hard for muzzle loading.the doe i shot this year with my muzzleloader i had to finish off with my patch knife( didn't like that at all)the ball entered beside the shoulder, bounced off a rib bone(didn't even break the rib)turned up and went through her back bone.i shot her at close range and fill like it should have done more.if it would not had broke her back i think she would had got away.gonna order some 20:1 lead from buffalo arms for my muzzleloader to try out in my .45 colt i load 30 grains of 3f goex bp with a 255 grain bullet i cast from a lee 6 cavity mold.i pan lube my bullets with spg lube and fire it off with cci magnum pistol primers. in my 45 scholfield i use a 200 grain bullet i cast from a very old double cavity ideal mold with 25 grains of blackpowder with the same lube and primers in my 44 colts i use a 200 grain bullet i cast from a lee double cavity mold, with 25 grains of 3f goex bp i also pan lube with spg lube and use cci magnum primers i quit reloading 44 russians when starline started making 44 colt brass.before that the only loads i had were for the 44 russians.i would have to trim 44 mag cases and it is too much of a chore my 32-20 i dont shoot no more for it is a original winchester model1892 made in 1911.so its been retired.don't care much for that caliber anyhows.fun to shoot hardly any recoil, just those old bottle neck cases like that are thin and can be a pain to get your dies set up for at first. i load for my 12 gauge 1 1/8 oz. of number 6 shot in winchester red aa wads over 60 grains of 3f goex.it sounds like a cannon going off.the double A wads melt in the barrel and is a little messy to clean up but i rarely miss a knock down target out of my double barrel at cowboy shoots. thats my blackpowder loads hope i ain't boared yall to badly with it but i live for blackpowder its like a religious expereiance for me

man jkingrph you load for some mighty large calibers.bet they are a hoot to shoot. i also noticed you load for the 38-55.what kind of gun do you have that in.i would love to have me a winchester model94 in that caliber. if your like me it takes me several days to load bullets and only a few hours to shoot them up. i guess i should say i'm a reloader who likes to shoot a little.

i haven't been to the new gun range yet. i can shoot at my house, and the hunting club i'm in is closer to me than the rifle range.though we can only shoot out to 100 yards.i was told the new rifle range has a 200 yard range.i don't ever get any shots like that where i hunt.50 to 75 yards is a long shot for me.
a guy i cowboy shoot with is fixing to open a new gun store in Ruston.suppose to be open in a couple of weeks.he's gonna have a gun range on site. a 50 yard pistol range and a 300 yard rifle range.he wants to have all kinds of shooting events out there.from cowboy shoots to the police type target shoots, and sporting clays.can't wait to see all of it. he's a good guy and should go far with this.

I don't remember which brand, but it was a 7mm08 of a friend of mine and he wanted me to check the zero on it. All my guns I carried that day were one table over.

I have a Marlin 336 Cowboy, 24" octagon barrel with a Lyman receiver sight. I tried a Marbles tang, but the windage adjustable base is so large it hurts my hand in recoil. I also tried one of these on a Marlin 1895 Cowboy 45-70) and same thing only worse, and generally I prefer tang sights. Yes the big calibers are a hoot. I just introduced a couple of firends to them a few weeks ago, 45-70, 375 and the 458. Neither had ever fired anything larger than a 30-06. I may be at the Ouachita Parish range in two weeks(Sept 30) with my new CZ 550 Safari Classic, 375. I'm meeting my son in W.Monroe where I still have a house we use for getaways. The only thing I do not like about the range is the bench only shooting for centerfire rifles. Those heavies can hurt off a low bench for a tall guy like me.

well if you don't mind some company when you get over here give me a holler. i live about 10 minuets from that new range. one of my friends has a marlin 45-70 pack rifle. it has a 20 inch barrel and is light as a feather. it will make your nose run to shoot it too many times. i have never shot a 375 or a 458. i bet you know when they go off. louisiana did away with muzzleloader season this year, and came up with what they call a primitive gun season. any single shot rifle that was designed after 1898 and has a exposed hammer is legal. 38 caliber and larger. they did not put a limit on the ammo. so any factory ammo can be used. people have been bying those single shot h&r handi rifles in 45-70 like crazy.

Next time I head that way I'll send a message. My CZ 550 in 375 is really a pussycat. The last time my son and I were at the Ouachita Parish range some of the guys there were commenting that they were glad they were not shooting that "big" thing, and I commented that it probably kicked less than their little lightweight rifles. I'm not saying you don't know it's a big gun but it's not bad. Since I made the earlier post I obtained a sweet little Husqvarna Mauser in 9.3.57, try finding that ammo. I can get brass and bullets so it's a reloading propisition only. I also have an upper for one of my Colt sporters in the works for 6.5 Grendel and to keep ammo economical will probably form brass from 7.62x39.
