Alright you slackers! Who's finding mushrooms? I can't even find a gray up here yet, but I know some of you are finding them! Give up your superior lore! Everybody likes mushrooms.
Where are you finding yours?

Ain much in the way of Morels (or MORALS either) around here, but when I lived in Il, I'd find 'em in the gully's in the forest. Stream beads and runoff areas were best, about a day after a rain. We do have that breadfruit mushroom around here (Looks like a big pancake growin outta the side of the tree's)
I was jokin about the Morals... most folk around here are Godfearin good folk... I couldn't have made it through the last 2 years without 'em.
Aint many places left where a fella'd be willin to die for defendin his neighbors

It's raining enough to bring them on, but now it's back in the 30's again, so we'll have to wait for it to warm up again.

OOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhh I love to hunt mushrooms. they should start poppin soon here in the northern greatlakes region. I heard frogs chirpin last night so Im officialy declaring spring up here. another Great mushroom to hunt fer is the chicken mushroom, also known as the Sulfer Shelf it is highly visible and easy to identify. chicken mushroom grows on stumps, is shelflike, is pumpkin orange on top and sulfer yellow on bottom but is only edible for the first few days its out then it gets too tough to eat. this mushroom holds its color when cooked and has a tast and texture much like chicken.

How do ya tell which is the good mushrooms, and which is the bad mushrooms.I remember seeing a show one time, on that and my dad always talked about picking wild mushrooms. And as a child, I didn't care too much for them.Until later in life, pork chops smothered in mushroom gravy.Fried mush rooms, fresh mushrooms, mushrooms on your salad there on so many ways to eat them. So,is there any do's or don'ts about pickin wild mushrooms. The ole Verdigris rivers not too far away. And I have pecan land, mushrooms grow here. But,I always knock them down, and last week by an old tree, one looked like what you desrcibed, as the chicken mushroom.Any ideas? Can ya give us some tips, for finding these. And maybe what kind we might find in different locations?Such as riverbeds, lake areas,or as I mentioned pecan fields,I also have alot of wild polk grownin around here at times, for those who pick wild polk, any ideas for that? Thanks

Your right Phoenix... At times when readin the news,World News, realizing that America is a great place to be.And the older I get, the more and more I realize, more than ever, how good our life may be,here in America, the home of the free, and the Land of the Brave."Thank God for our troops."And for all those who have in the past fought for freedom, liberty, and justice. Not many in all places would lay down their life for another. To protect another, their neighbors, family, and Country. It makes a person think,no matter what we have or don't have,we still have more than some in some places.ALOT to be THANKFUL FOR!!SO,"Thanks Guys,,for all you have done and ladies.

ok, this is a chicken mushroom, it does not have any toxic look-alikes or any lookalikes to speak of. thats what makes it a good one to hunt fer. As mentioned by the others, if your interested in huntin shrooms get some books (more than one, at least 3) and find someone who knows and even then dont eat anything which has toxic lookalikes (which is most of the mushrooms out there). Even though many are edible I only eat a few wich are easy to identify and dont have toxic lookalikes. extreme caution must be used when eating any wild shrooms cuz most are toxic and the ones that look like they would tast great or smell good are somtimes deadly. One saying of old mushroom hunters is "Dont eat little brown Mushrooms!!" Attachments:
