Tell me more about the whistles. What kind of tones do you get? How loud? Does wet weather affect them? Those are really cool.

they are a load high pitch tone, all most ear percing, kinda like a dog whistle. i don't know about wet weather, I used wood as the plug [dowl rod] so it might. i made them to give to the kids on easter so they can drive there parents crazy.

Hello, Like PaWeaver said those are interesting.Whistles, flutes, they go way back. And I have heard music where they blend very well together. And also with other musical instruments together. Chimes are interesting too. It's pretty neat, how whether it's whistles, flutes, pipes, metal, glass, drums, the list could go on,about the sounds, pitches, they make to create music. You could take two sticks together, and they create sound used with other. When God created earth,he used all kinda things, that some would consider as music to their ears.As the rustling of the trees, the wind blowing, the effects this has on the water, just listening on a sunny slightly breezy day.You can hear these to gether and they make calming music.Add some birds of a few different kind, listen to the twitters, and the melodies it all begins to make when combined together. Now that sounds like a vacation to me...Next if you you wanna mix artwork with it.You just notice the sky,the clouds, the colors, and trees and you've got some of Gods most beautiful handywork.Though I would have to add if near the Mountains or the hills. Those are great added feature, add them all together. Well,I was just readin Paweaver comment,on the post.I got to thinkin the next thing I know,my mind goes to music...then art.... Well ya'll have a Great Day!! WhiteDove

How many holes does your wood flute have,if it has 6 cover the 3rd hole with a tight wrap of thin leather, now using one hand cover the top two holes, and the other hand cover the last three holes,do this using the meaty pads of each finger covering firmly but gentley. Now start from the tom raising each finger to make a note all the way down, then reverse that, starting at the last hole going back up,don't worry about that not that is covered with leather, you'l use that much later.Keep reapeating that process up and down the flute,if you get a squeaky sound, you are not covering the holes enough.Do this for about a week or two or until you get tired or bored doing it close your eyes while doing it for muscle memory, stand in front of a mirror and practice that. Once you have done that and can make notes without the sqeak, you are good to go,it's that easy to play a flute, after you have mastered that start playing around with different things.LIsten to nature for your music,i can see the Sierras from my house,i actuaklly use the peaks and valleys as low and high notes, listen to the wind and nature in a quite place for music.. By the way i have been playing for about 3 years and i still do not use that covered note,it is a bland off key note,i just have not found a use for it yet. That's it have fun..

3balls,
Good job on the whistles and the arrow heads. I made a bunch of whistles like those for the kids at Christmas back 10 years ago. Kinda like you, I saw one in a truck stop and went home and made one. Making a bunch was easy.
I'd like to be able to knap like that.

I'm not the knapper that would be my wife, I make big rocks into smaller rocks for her to do her thing, then she gives them back to me and i make other things out of them./ and would you believe she's only been doing it for about two years.
