A-ha! Found where they belong. This first pouch is a Sioux design. The belt loops under the flap were my idea. Some Dr. from Ohio bought it for 300. I was broke and desperate. Relate? These two bags were both done with pony beads, style circa pre-1840. This is a piece I'm working on now. Eventually it will have the belt loops and top flap like the Sioux bag has.

wwoww!!! NICE, Longtrail! Simply beautiful.
Stunning work.. great pics. this last one could sure sell some beads! love the cheyenne pink and the greazzy yellow...do the black symbols represent flying geese? Always loved that pattern.
Looks like some pretty fine examples of your buckskin as well. The backdrops are incredible, too! A great eye, V. I highly admire your work. Your examples feeds all of our braintan obsessioins around here I am without a doubt sure..LOL. Good for you Girl.. you keep on beading away! You're doing a great job! I can't wait to see this new bag complete. Will have to start myself a piggy bank just for beads today! Happy Valentines, btw.

Even after beading for so many years,I still have problems too. Since I bead from right to left, if I am not careful, my piece starts to slant to the left. Also I tend to forget to just draw a pattern on my leather, and just worry about getting to that line in a neat manner rather than trying to cram the same number of beads on all the time. The piece I am working on now is the first beading I have done in about four years and I totally spaced out how i should do it. As a result my triangles, the first one nice and relaxed, are beginning to bunch up and lose their shape. So from now on, I will just bead to the design without worrying about having the same amount of beads per row.

Ok River Rat. What sort of knives do you make. I happen to know someone who would like a knife. Which bag did you like?

longtrail, I make all types. but I specialize in frontier style knives and sheaths.Look under the Sheaths catagory and you will find several threads containing my work.As far as the bags, I love them all. I would like something like a beaded hunters pouch w/lots of fringe and danglies, and possibly a beaded strap.I really liked the first one on the left done in pony beads. It will not be used, just a part of my ART collection!!Here is a shot of a piece that was traded to joanne for some braintan, The pic was taken by her as well.

RR~ Joe wants to know what sort of blades you make. (material) The unfinished piece with the black triangles is on our elk we do. Totally velvet. BB~ I usually use pencil to mark my lines and a gum eraser to erase any left over lines. RR~ give me some ideas of the dimension of pouch your wanting, the pouch you like is rather small. It is actually what I call an URN pouch, it hangs from an old cedar in Washington, overlooking the Pacific. Has my friend's wife's ashes in it. Here is my latest project I''m working on, I am just about finished with the beading, then will line with drawstring black velvet bag, and bind edges with black velvet.

Joe wants to know what you charge outright for the knife like the one you show. He says you charge 18 an hour, so how many hours do you think you have in the beautiful beautiful , "holycrap come look at this!" knife that you show in this last photo? As far as the bag goes, do you like the same colors? I just ordered a book on sioux patterns, but I can do just about any pattern as long as I have one to look at. I would have to order beads, etc. I would think it would take me a month to get the beads, and make the bag. Being a craftsman yourself, you know that waiting for an item is understandable. Your knives are awsome, a word I think is highly overused, but is suitable in describing your work. lt

Thanks Longtrail! I think he may have me confused with Phoniex, aka Lawern, who charges 18.00 an hr. As far as the bowie I posted, that sold for 875.00, and something similar would be priced similar. I think I had about 45 hrs. in that set.Yes I do like the colors on that pouch, and I do understand wait time, as it would take me that long or a little more as well. As far as trading goes, make the bag and figure your sale price, and I will make you an equally priced set, or if you want something more expensive, I will make your set and price it , deduct the amount for your bag, and take the balance in cash. If you want, I will pm you my phone # and you can call me and we'll talk.
