Here are a couple of dresses I made a few years ago. The Blackfoot beaded one was mine I wore for along time, the other I made for some Ca. to give to his wife.

Those dresses are so pretty, LT. Thanks for posting them. Must be fun and comfy to wear those? One of these days perhaps I'll have the whole she-bang from my own skins.. Ha.. reminds me that I'd better get busy if I ever expect that to happen!

Joanne, i really hope you make one of those Upper Missouri dresses, I know you can make one well, you may have already seen this link but here it is anyway. womenofthefurtrade.com/home.html Alot of people I know get their ideas from these girls on this site, they really are show stoppers at the big events when they show up in these dresses. Hope to see you make one.

Thanks for the link and encouragement, A! Yep my dressmaking leaves a lot to be desired, lol. I have been pretty impressed with all the dresses on that women of the fur trade site.. I like that one.

Looks like you used Susan Fecteau's book on plains dress sketches. Familiar with her work? I think she has the most informative book on specific yoke designs etc.

i have making a lot of stuff like this since i was a young boy, my first interested? well had to say it´s in the blood., that name i have heard, but dont remember right now, have many books i use to look on for all crafts, most northern plains., another dress from our fullblooded native friends in a rez Alberta Canada, made with woollen becouse been so heavy to wear with all beads., she is Cree and he Nakoda Sioux.,
