The pic is a little washed out, but here's a braintan bag with a heart cut out backed by beaver tail skin. The hard part is skinning the beaver tail. The bag is laced together with a twisted stitch instead of sewed. If I did it again, I think I'd use the lace around the heart too, instead of artificial sinew. The strap is fingerwoven braintan strips.

The tail is'nt really tanned. It's like rawhide, I just scraped it clean and let it dry. I think I did put a little neatsfoot or some such on the back of it.

This is the biggest possible bag I've ever done. It's elk hide and I have it stuffed with blankets so it will kinda hold it's shape. If it was for me, I'd just put shoulder straps on it and call it a knapsack, but this is how the guy wanted it. Its around 17 inches each way, plus it has a six inch gussett.

Another of my favorites. I need to do another one with the heart cutouts on real dark buckskin. I sold a couple like this one. The pic may be a little confusing, it doesn't have fringe, but there are other bags hanging behind this one.
