Instead of that whipstitch, have you ever tried two needle sewing? Also, do you put a welt on your rawhide sheaths? that looks nice as is, but I might be able to provide a bit of guidance on other sewing techniques.

no i've never used two needles.would like some pointers.i'm new to this knife making stuff and still feeling my way around with making sheaths too.that sheath we did, shrunk up too much now the knife don't fit. i didn't allow enough for shrikage,first lesson learned.that is the third sheath i've made from rawhide so still alot to learn.no we did not welt that sheath except for where the fringe is.that other raw hide sheath i did i thought was my best but it wrinkled up on me real bad when it dried and to me it don't look good now.then i stained it with wood stained and it now looks like a turd.but thats all part of it,gotta start somewhere
