I made so many of these. They were always popular at rendezvous. I made lots from antelope too and made them into small belt pouches. Lots of deer ones too. They are all fully lined with wool drawstring bags. One of these was a backpack.

That is otter on the back pack lid. I only have beaver now, or can use any hide you send if you want something different. I get $200 for elk bags $250 for elk back packs and $150 for deer.

Dont see why not. I would think you'd only want the dews on the outside, otherwise yer horse might not appreciate it.

That's a good point. I was thinkin' of throwing 'em over my shoulder as carry in bags. I don't think I would care for the dewclaws gouging me either. They sure are pretty though. Great looking bags.

Thanks, they are made from untanned elk legs. So they are stiff. I always use 20 mule team borax on any untanned leather I work with. It helps it dry plus helps to keep the item smelling ok. Before I discovered it I would make the bags, but in W. Oregon, they tended to get damp and would stink. I discovered the 20MTB when working with goose wings and having that large end of bone and grissle, I'd throw the wings in a paper bag with a few c. of 20MTB and shake it up. Solved the smell. I have a small beaver tail that I skinned out in one piece, I filled it with the same and it dried quite nicely shaped. Now to figure out what to make with it. It would make a great musket ball holder, I just need the hardware. lt
