this is one possibility of working on raw hide... by using a pointed stick or pencil dipped in paint ... dots are made in any pattern of your choice on a piece of raw hide... good luck!

That's very nice. It would look real cool on one of those rawhide boxes or portfolio type folder onvelope. thanks for sharing this tip Hannes. Never gave this idea a thought. Brilliant.

Think you should use it to make a box or something and do another rawhide to make a lampshade. The transparent area on this skin was loose but held taut and the skin would have been all opaque and would be cooler looking for the shade.. keep up the good work and I really like the pattern and the idea about the paint on rawhide.. very nice, and thanks for sharing this. I'm almost have another shoulder pouch completed and the pattern for the beadwork I put on it was inspired by this here paint on rawhide of yours, I liked it so much.. ! I'm copying your work in my own way, Hannes..hahaha! My daughter couldn't find her schoolbag so I gave her the buckskin pouch for her schoolwork and told her to RUN!!! so she wouldn't miss the bus this morning.. sure hope she doesn't leave the bag on the bus on the return trip! I took all the outside lacing off of the original one and resewed the bag then I put all the 'wrong color' on the edgework beading I put on the pocket flap so after cutting all those off I rebeaded that part.. LOL.. Oh well.. hope she doesn't get it soiled, either, I planned to give this bag to a dear friend soon. Yep..probably getting attached to the deerskin alright.. not a good thing to get so attached to material things I'm sure. anyway JMO.. what do I know?? LOL I have yet to make a rawhide box..but would like to someday.. be neat. anyway I think this rawhide painting looks just really neat!
