Just a bar and a beam.. it is fresh scrape from salted summer skins from the processor. The summer skins are from the farmers special permits.. crop damage. These skins have very red hair and the fur buyer wants no hides with the red hair. I think these skins are what the ndns might have chosen for lots of their clothing. Quite thin but some have very tough necks! I just soaked the skins overnight in plain water to rehydrate. You will see this in varying degrees with hides that are not 'bucked'. The more I look at this one the more I like it just the way it is. Looking forward to seeing it smoked. I wish I could just stay home to grain more hides today but I have to leave the serenity behind this morning.
