Those feathers were some done with white duck or goose feathers and colored with shoe polish. Pretty good imitations. We find lots of feathers here, owl, hawk eagle but we let them stay where they are. Illegal feathers can get you in lots of trouble. I have a friend who sold an eagle feather to a fed and got six months in a federal prison.

Dug through some more photos and found some cooler weather garb. I made this dress before it became important to me not to mix tribal styles. The dress is of pendelton wool, mother of pearl buttons, blanket binding edges, and fully lined with flannel, and sewn by hand. I love the art of the Nl.W. Coast natives. The front of the dress has their Moon Man and mountains. The back has one of my favorite N.W.C. creatures, the Killer Whale. My daughter's dress was made from factory tanned leather (wasn't a tanner then) , Oatmeal color. A really nice substitute if you need to use factory tanned leather. Her sweet little "voo"name was Mourning Dove and there is a cutout (not very traditional, but pretty) of a doveon the front. The little furry thingys are ermine. Sarah is holding a pine knot war club. My son's capote, and damn, I wish I had more photos of it, was made from a heavy wool blanket, and styled like the Canadian, fitted coats with several pieces on the back, two piece sleeves, and the little "caplettes?" over the shoulder. The hood extended out for snowy weather, and it is fully lined with calico. Then moi, dresses warm at Frog Holler voo. in Oregon Circa, eeeeeeeks!!!!forget that!!!!!
