i tried the dinsmore method a few months back, and had great results. i did not follow there steps in full as i bucked the hide in koh and used tap water. but i pre brained as they describe and hung the hide sideways as they describe. the hide was a doe hide. it soften up with very little effort, and is probadly one of the best hides i've done to date. i do plan on doing more hides and follow there steps completely. heres a picture

Wow Shady Bill!!! Thats one nice looking hide. We are so glad your seeing the difference in the finished clothing quality product. I guess it's going to take some success stories like this one to inspire others to "buck the bucking" and give our method a try to work towards a soft clothing quality hide. If you havn't felt the difference, its easy to deny there is one. Keep at it. lt

started fleshing a hide about a hour ago. the flesher i use just don't have enough back bone in it to grain a hide that hasn't been bucked. it bends and flexes a good bit and takes away from the force needed to scrape. kind of like shooting pool with a rope. so anyhows i had to buck the hide, but plan to follow dlt 's method the rest of the way
