Here are two hides we softened yesterday. We have added a new, yes, new, step that is not in the written directions, but will be on our DVD. I guess good things come to us who wait, and work, and experiment. Would you want to make saddle bags from these hides? Probably not. A bag that you want to have it hold its shape? No. But clothing? ? Ohhhh yes. By far the nicest clothing quality hides we have produced in over 20 years! Our hides are strictly clothing quality. They have no stiffness at all. Just a butter soft feel next to the skin. We have found a way to lessen the labor and time involved in tanning hides. We are working about 1/3 as hard and as long as previously. Totally cool!!!! Check out the drape on this one with one finger supporting the hide. Here are the above hide as well as the other hide we softened along with it. No hard spots, no wrinkles. Because of the way we are doing them now, we spent 45 minutes on one hide and about 1hour 15 min. on the other softening them out dry. Yes, this is a dry area, but you will be able to cut the drying time of your hides too as well as the amount of hands on labor. When we soften now, we only work it a few minutes, four or five times. Totally amazing to us.

Cheez...if your going to show us this beautiful hide which I am drooling over..get the damn video done so I can get and find out the step. lol...I hate teasers. At least tell us the cost so we can send you bucks for the dvd and you can mail it when your done. Have hides all over waiting and wanting to get on with getting on with it. Still finishing up bucked up bucked hides. I probably messed up the bucking part by leaving it in too long or something similar but not willing to learn the bucking process that much. One thing they are good for is straps for bags due to the stiffer nature of the hides. I do hides for a guy that makes bags and these thicker buck hides I bucked will work good for straps.
Good move tho on the dvd. Don't give it all away! Just HURRY up.

As an added thought, I always thought there was a use for any hide, no matter how it turns out. I still feel that way and maybe more so. I really don't want super soft hides for all things, but sure want to know the process so I can do it CONSISTANTLY when I so choose.
