Wanted to share this photo with ya. This elk, probably a cow, has been fleshed, dehaired, prestretched, brained and is ready to go into the smoker today. As you can see, the hide is already soft in areas, and flexible. When it is smoked, it will be even softer and more flexible and when put on the frame to soften, will require little work and time as it will already be soft, and all we will do is work it occasionally for a few minutes to keep it that way, and it will dry soft. This is a photo of the elk we did last year that i have been cutting on since then. Notice the texture, this type of leather is warmer in the winter as it has insulation qualities, and cooler in the summer because of its breathability and wicking. But thats just our Humble Opinion.
