Not for the dieters for sure!!!!
I've been making these rolls for years here at the club. I don't usually make them any other time, cause they are so so good.
Grind wheat, put milk in large sauce pan, add sugar, bit of salt, heat till warm. Remove from heat, add yest, mix real well, I use a blender, then add enough flour to make the mixture a bit thick. Cover for 15m to make sure dough wll rise. It should be foamy. Add enough flour to make soft dough, turn out on floured counter, add enough floure so dough is not wet and sticky, but not so much to make a tough dough.
Knead for a bit and then put in bowl to let rise about 45min.
When risen, roll into rectangle, liberally apply melted butter, top with sugar and then lots of cinnamon
Roll jelly roll fashion, turn ends under, put long seam on bottom. Make the roll uniform in thickness by pulling the thicker places.
Cut into inch and half pieces and place into well greased pan with sides as opposed to a cookie sheet. They look sort of like roses don't they? Brush with melted butter all over tops to keep them soft while baking.
After baking and while warm, ice with almond flavored icing.
And enjoy. While warm and ooooh so yummy.
Whats for supper? Elk, individual stuffed meat loaves, stuffing made from diced apples, celery, mushrooms, cranberries, onions, bread cubed. Home made noodles with elk gravy, banana pudding, fresh baked dinner rolls, broccali with cheese sauce. C'mon over.!!
