That was Great! I wondered what the knife on your avatar was, and I thought a saw blade would be good stock for an ulu, but I didn't have that shape in mind, so I didn't make the connection. After the blade is annealed, is there any reason that I couldn't cut the shape out with a torch? You said you're making a set for your wife, what will that consist of? Really looks Great!

So far a paring (taterpeeler) 2 1/2 in narrow blade set of 8 steak knives 5 in blade Large boning / fillet knife 9 inch blade Large carving knife 9inch blade Carving Fork Large Butcher knife 9 in blade Large skinning knife 7 in blade Small skinning knife 3 in blade Small cheese knife 2 1/2 in blade (done in sawblade knife tut) Funky ulu (done of course)

You could cut it with a torch, I was doing the tutorial with the simplest tools (that most people would have or could get cheap)
If torch cutting, I'd cut it out prior to the anneal... annealing will normalise the stresses created during the torch cutting.
