Well this has been a good year for me and my bro. Let alot of critters go this season, and didnt get to trap that much. but we still had alot of fun. Lots of fur not in the pic, but this is most of it. last couple of critters on boards (this pic was taken several weeks ago) couple rats and mink All in all we were thrilled. Though we didnt get to set as much steel as we had liked due to my back injury, on average only had 25-30 sets out for a couple days. Cant wait till next year!

Damn! Looks like a real obsession for furs you got there! I wouldn't mind having a coon skin fur coat.. BE AWESOME! you tan any of those? have you tried using any powerwashers on fleshing any of those? They sure do clean them up..*providing* you're using a rotary nozzle.. man coons can be so disgusting to flesh and clean up. It does indeed look like a lot of work you've done indeed there.. great job!!!

ya we are twins. No we dont use a powerwasher to do the skins (would like to try it for deer hides though). we have tanned many in years past but most of these are going to auction. Thought about having a couple coats made for us, but decided not to, would rather have a 3/4 beaver coat instead. Shipping everything out this week. A good portion was sold before season started (contract to a private individual, $30 for coons, $45-70 for yotes, $30 fox, $3 possums. I know the auction wont be that good to us but i think we will do ok again this year. As young as we are, we can remember when we got $1/inch on the beaver sure wish it was still like that.

Yep.. you guys are into production, no doubt about it.. with the use of the powerwasher on skins like the yotes fox.. mink.. and all the furs I'm cleaning the hair side too.. If you were tanning them yourself it would seriously cut down heavily on the amount of degreasers needed to clean up the flesh side..but it would indeed take some additional time to blow dry the fur side. I have a shop vac that blow dries them at over 200 mph, lol. So whatever works for you. Just like the braintanning..whatever floats everyone's boat is the way to do it! Dang the prices for the furs are up a whole lot! Thanks for sharing that pintail, interesting.

Good luck at the auction. I think they bought back most stuff at the last one. Actually, fur prices are way down again, Joanne, these guys were just smart enough to find an alternative market.
