I just finished making these bad boys ! Ugh. Now I remember why the last time I made a pair of these was over 20 years ago. They are very labor intensive and difficult to put together, being necessary to use a small pair of needle nose pliars and sturdy glovers needles for every stitch, but once they are done, they are fantastic, durable moccasins. I first got into the rendezvous and Fur Trade Reinactment when I lived in W. Oregon. Before discovering how to make these, rendezvous always meant wet, slimy moccasins, that lost thier shape, and cold, wet, uncomfortable feet. I took photos all along, except for sewing the rectangular top on but thats pretty easy. I am going to try to get a tutorial together and post it too, in case anyone is interested in making some like this. What makes these so nice for wet weather, snow, dew in the morning, anything short of walking through a creek, is there is a layer of Barge cement between the brain tan and sheepskin. By applying the cement to both pieces of leather, and then hammering them all over really well, not missing any of it , it forms a flexible moisture proof barrier. All I have left to do is re hammer the seams so they are flat, then all the seams lay better and don't rub the foot. Lt.

Thank you for the compliments on these mocs. Makes all the suffering worth it ! haha. I have started the tutorial, it is long and rather than have to do it twice, I am going to advise anyone interested in seeing it to visit our website and checking it out there. I would like to post it here at br somewhere but not sure if I can copy and paste something that big with so many photos. www.braintanninginnovations.comI'm about 3/4 way finished with the tutoria. These aren't mocs that you want to make for next weekend if its tuesday. Lt

I try to add more daily as I finish the second pair of the order. The ones shown above are for the guy and I'm working on some for his wife. They are a bit easier to work with as his were cut from the thickest part on the neck, and while the hide is beading needle soft, it is thick. Hers were cut from a bit farther down on the hide so they are not quite and labor intensive. Alls thats left is sewing the beaded pieces on, adding some thongs and tops. Phew.
