try this link Joe, if nothing else there is a decent pic, www.donelsoncustommuzzleloaders.com/traps.htmlyou'll see the difference right off , I have a few here at the house I can show you how to convert to look better, the bridger #5 is one of my favorites , there are others easy to fix up too.

Joe, we havn't had an encampment in two winters now. Ice storms, work schedules, family business and everything else got in the way of having them. There was a handful of guys that had access to a lease and we had a few good seasons, we hope to get it together this year and it's looking favorable. It's a good way to try out your gear, and the hunting is good too. The way your going it looks like you'll be ready if your interested. You can use long spring traps, no coils though. It's getting about time to plan for it , I don't know when the hunting/trapping season starts. You can set a few land sets if you like also.

well, Y'all know that they were traditionally made by the blacksmiths. If I git a closeup look at the trigger mechanism, I could make 'em, but the man hours involved means they wouldnt be cheap.

We can make them Joe, if we can put the time into it. It's easier to convert a few modern ones, change the pan, square the jaws, and keep the original spring steel tempered right. I"m willing to dig through my pile of iron and see what i got to start with anyway. Lawren a project like this is time consuming yes, and thats what makes them expensive. I hit that stumbling block everyday. It's worth a fair price though , if it's made right.

Howdy joe, good to see ya. I got a slow start going , I made two posts this evening and looking for square nuts to finish them off. I found some good iron to use for the base frame , and soon i'll try to post pictures if photobucket will cooperate with me. this project isn't easy, lots of little things to build,it's easier hammering on bigger materials.
