here is my first attempt at this style of beading,3 1/2 ' x 5" medicine bag.now i know why everyone charges so much for bead work,i dont think they charge enough,started yesterday afternoon finished up this morning,wow thats alot of work,cant wait to try it again lol

Chaz.. I like your bag.. love the color combination. I see your using a running stitch.. is the work done only on top of the hide? Do you use a single or double thread? I used a single thread for years but now only use double now that I have learned to bead only on the top of the hide. Yes, it does take a long long time huh? You will get faster. If you bead from the top, and you find your leather tends to fold over while your beading... you can take a wide strip of masking tape and apply it to the back of the hide.. it gives the hide a bit of stiffness and prevents stretching along the edges.. when your finished then remove the tape. I use to mark my lines with a pencil but have learned that a sharp bone awl marks them well too. Just some ideas for you. Happy beading... we look forward to seeing more and more. !!!
