Years ago I lived in mexico, and ate what they call LA tuna. No its not a fish, but a cactus fruit, about the size of a plum, has seeds inside and is sweet. I was out flying a kite with my grandsone the other day and saw the same fruit on some cactus that the city planted in a small park across the street. By the pond, ie, drainage hole that you cant swim in or be near cause theres probalby a gator or two in it. Anyway i picked some and ate them and in the process found my teeth to be a lovely shade of bright magenta. ;D Probably attractive in some cultures but not here ! I did rub some on some paper and the dye is strong and vivid. So if anyone is fortunate enough to live where that grows, you have a great source for a nice dye. lt
