One of my daughters and I pooled our pocket funds and bought a house bunny yesterday. We have big plans for her. We have lots of bunnies loose running our outside yard but we don't do anything with those. Occasionally neighboring cats will take one or some birds of prey get brave enough to make off with some of them.. anyway this one will be coddled brushed and pampered and fed dried fruits like pineapple or papaya. It helps the little creatures not get plugged up from the furballs that they can get while cleaning themselves.
Anyway we've named her 'Ginger'. She has a pedigree. She's a 'satin angora'. There're all different kinds of angora rabbits. This one just happened to be 'on sale' yesterday and a pretty orangey color.
My daughters and I attended an annual fiber festival yesterday morning. Always exciting to attend those events! We got geeked up with the bunnies at this MI Angora stand on the way in to one of the huge exhibit buildings. Hard for us gals to resist the lure of cuddling up with these soft fluffy creatures y/k?
I couldn't afford one of these fluffy earred varieties! I kinda like them better a little more..but not enough to pay twice what we paid for this one! Maybe next year! They were all pretty adorable. and they're all a challenge to maintain too! So that's why this bunny will be kept in the house and brushed daily!
This is the one we chose. She's only 2 1/2 months old right now.
Her fur is easily brushed out now, so we'll be saving it!
Once spun and or dyed little booties like the ones I found in "IMAGES" on the net can be knitted up fairly quickly.
Makes me want to do some more spinning and knitting!
Found another pic on images too.. ours could grow to look a lot like this one. This one might however be a male.. it's really a big furry furball eh?
We've already begun to build a new house hutch! As if we have room in my already crowded house. Oh well...We're building it all out of salvaged materials.. don't know about the wire however.. don't think I have enough scrap..for that..
