thanks, It is made on injun tanned leather, size 14 beads. I made the mistake of thinking it could mix the methods, the one I usually use, and the lazy stitch. I had a real hard time with the diagonal lines with the lazy stitch so just sewed them on with the method I do most. But then had a hard time getting things to line up and spaces to fill in. It doesnt have any sort of strap because it is made to go inside a medicine bundle to keep smaller things in. It looks huge but its only about 5x8 and my feet are definately not that small ....9s!! When the pouch was given to me to bead I was told it is a womans pouch for obvious reasons, and I thought tassles were so new !!! haha. Hey beaudro, remember when I wanted to send you some pendelton woolen mill wool blanket binding?? Thats some there. You said you didnt know what youd use it for.

Think Mike Searl told me that some folks use a piece of masking tape as a guide instead of marking the brain tan with pen or pencil. Might that be helpful for your 'lane stitchin'? I wish I had a bunch of beads. I misplaced my last $35. Bagful lessen they got wings and flew off!

Once the first row is on all one need to do is butt the next row up against them. Ha. sounds easy, I dont mind using pencil as the lines get covered anyway. BMP says he tries to use the same hole so his work is that close. Lots of spaces in mine, sigh.
I forgot to mention that the rows should also have an effect called turtle shell hump, so they do not lay flat on the leather, I do have a few rows like that, but most lay flat. Just something to keep in mind.
I have seen some lazy stitch where the beads in the rows, cross over or under the previously laid ones and I dont like them that loose. But this was my first lazy stitch project, and I can only get better.
My next one is a small pipe bag with light blue background, as I dont care for the white at all, too many beautiful colors in the world to do anything white again, anyway light blue back ground with triangular dark grey geese flying in vee formations, we will se how it comes out. I have some real nice greasy yellows, 14s for the sun.
Something I tried to do when I made that lizzard pouch, was to work in a design with like color beads that you could see. In otherwords, the beads that were not in the design all run the same direction, but the design runs a different direction and it noticeable without being outlined. Well no wonder it didnt work, I cant even describe it. Or did I???
I had tried it on the lizzard bag but was not happy with it, as I needed more practice and did not want to screw up a nice bag with experimentation. lt

Well I could probably try some of the lane stitch with some of the chinese beads. Just something small to get a feel for trying that turtle shell hump beadwork.. even with larger beads I can imagine that it would take a while. How long did this 5x8 pouch take you? is it the one side? or both? Oh I can see skin on top.. well see it doesn't really matter if your skins aren't perfect for filling in an entire area with lane stitch. I've seen lots of just incredible work on that PlainsIndianSeminarTwo group site. I would bet that a vest or some of those dresses might get a bit heavier with plenty of beads! I'm sure that it beats watching some of the tv that airs. Probably beats dishes laundry and housecleaning as well! really pretty work LT. Some of that red stuff'd be great for hockskin bags.. How much is that stuff? Wool binding is it?
