last month at the gun show i made out with a good trade. a feller i know has been wanting my spencer rifle for a while, but never would offer anything i really wanted until this year. it is a sharps model 1874 business rifle in the 45-70 caliber. or should i say a replica of one. we made a even swap and both walked a way with a big ole smile on our faces. finally made time to shoot it yesterday. i only had 6 bullets that cody was so kind to give me. i shot it at 25 yards and it shot better than i can. now all i need is a bullet mould and i'll be in business for reloading this beast. for now on out it will only be shot with my cast lead bullets and blackpowder, the way they are suppose to be

that gun has some pretty grain in the wood. don't know how well it show in the pictures. i have a paper cutter sharps. i've had it for many years now. it is fun to shoot but i have been wanting a cartridge shooter for a long time. gonna have to make some slight changes to the gun. the sights on the gun are military style and are hard to see. the rear sight is no problem to change out but the front sight is silver solider to the barrel, so to put a good front sight on it i'll have to have a dove tail cut in the barrel. it had a set trigger and the guy i got it from didn't like the set trigger and removed it. now it has a really heavy trigger pull. i aint much for set triggers myself but i'm gonna have to do something with the trigger pull. it is way too heavy. these are small easy changes to make and i should be able to do most of this myself. it'll give me something to tinker with this summer
