Let our daughter shoot a few rabbits in our backyard.. There are just so many wrong things about this pic.. like why is she holding the gun upside down and allowing the barrel to rest in the dirt? of course as soon as I noticed that I quickly told her that that is not the way to handle a gun! So.. she insisted on having mom tan this bunny seeing as she is a very good shot.. course the bunny was just sitting there like a sitting duck! poor thing.. and yes we did eat it and the others that she shot. skinning the cartilage from rabbits ears is plenty twicky indeed.. fortunately the salting of the skinned rabbit and leaving it for a time seems mightily helpful in that and the fleshing of bunnies. JMO..whatever works for you. and yes I have used a pw'r on them with great success..but that's twicky business too! lol.. luck might even play a small part. These bunnies are so precious. Beautiful. We have LOTS of free ranging bunnies.. Like forty of them. Occasionally predators and vehicles eliminate their existence so hopefully I can do the best to preserve this summer skin.. make my little daughter happy. And learn something about rabbit tanning at the same time. I have a little water soluble oil on the flesh side and think I'll just allow it to dry in the frame.. wondering why some skins are dried fur side in and some fur side out? anyway.... just messin' around.
