Hello Badhand. Awesome boot!
Are you going to wear them for like kicking around in? Or will you save them for special occasions? Yours and badgirlpintos moccasin boots are real inspiring. Do you prefer buckskin boots to moccasins? Thanks

Looks like some nice thick leather. thats buffalo hair on the outside of the soles? when you stitched the tops of the mocs to the soles did you stitch all the way through to the bottom or only half way through the sole, coming out the side of the sole? Cant wait to see them finished. bgp

I only stitch half way through the rawhide and it is buffalo rawhide with the fur outside I I find the the soles wear longer this way. The top is antelope buck hide that I put into a too hot of brain mixture it shrank the hide making it thicker but still pliable. I used antelope because it seems to have a tighter fiber, that and I have a lot of antelope hides that are what I call craft hides. These hides are ones that the hunters used a cannon to shoot the antelope. They have large holes but there is enough good hide left to be usable.
I also use buffalo rawhide for the soles on my 2 piece hard sole moccasins. A student of mine who lives in AZ made a pair of hard sole moccasins in my class and they lasted him 2 years in the desert.

Nice to know antelope hides can be thickened up... I have turned down so many of them just because they are so thin. Hurry and finish them, cant wait to see them !!!! bgp

I use the thin antelope hides for shirts and medicine bags. The shirt are thin and nice in the summer real soft and cool they breath. Antelope are one of my favorite hides to tan and use, they tan easy.
