Couple pics from today. "Go away, nobody's home!" Nice surprise in a muskrat set. Almost always pick up one of these each year in this swamp. ---

Ya'll still have rats? High water really kicked them into high gear last night. I'm almost glad deer season is Monday so I can set on the stand and get some rest!

I'll sell you a tanned fox hide for $40. I have three reds and one gray. Here is one we got yesterday. Big gray. I think I'll probably tan him. The snow didn't last long. It's like summer here today, but that won't last either! I'll take attin~

Some days I check a lot of empty traps. Course, the weather can make or break ya. I've been mostly after muskrats, trying to make 100-don't know why, must be a magic number? But, I found a lot of fox tracks along and on this waterway I'm trapping, and made a few sets for them yesterday, and got this guy today: Going to sell most of the coon, so we took a pic. Not all of them are there, I think I have around 75 so far.

Awesome Loren! Be really cool to have raccoon or fox fur coats! Looks like plenty of material for some! Nice!
Terrible to see the look of fear in the animals eyes.. glad I don't do what you do, cause I don't think I could do that!

Well, we sold another batch. Something like 109 muskrats, three mink, a couple beaver and most of the fox and yes, I sold the coyote instead of tanning it. Furbuyer offered my $25 and I hemmed and hawed about keeping it, so he finally said $30 and I said Ok. I figure I can tan a deer in the time it'd take me to do that big brush wolf and the deer would be worth about twice as much. Also got $25 on the better fox, but did save back the one gray. I held the muskrats too long and the price dropped. I never can seem to sell rats at the right time, last year I let them go too early. $32 for blanket beaver and $17 for a good mink. Tough trapping, now, just beaver sets under the ice and maybe a fox set here and there if I see tracks. But, it still gets me out there everyday, fresh air and good exercise!
