While I was living in Tillamook, Oregon I would go along the bay looking for driftwood that looked like animals. I came across this raven, complete with feathers on the back of the head. I used sheet copper that I had purchased from Habitat for Humanity. People on the NW coast use copper on their roof peaks, theory is it keeps moss from growing on the roof... not sure if that is true or not. Anyway I tried using tin snips and wire cutters and was not happy with how they cut the sheet copper and my friend Pinto suggested kitchen shears and believe it or not they cut the copper so easily. Even small shapes. I had hoped for the copper eyes to look more North West Coast style but because of the orb of the eye I had to fill it in. It sits in the NW rain and will eventually weather. Over all I am happy with the raven head and happy that it sits on Pinto's front porch.

Wonder about raven totem? Have to look that one up. Ravens and crows are both very intelligent. Plenty of crows about here lately. I love watchin them in the yard, can see them better with my old eyes I guess..They seem to like coyote meat and fat. Good.. clean up crew that wear black tux's right in the yard.
