ok, pounded this out of a piece of 1/2" mild steel square stock, took 1 1/2 hours, still have to heat treat it but after thats done all it will need is a wire brush, little emery cloth, and a few minuts on the buffer. I gave it to a friend for his birthday ;D Attachments:

If ya beat it out of cold rolled, dont bother with the heat treatment. There's not enough carbon in it to harden. That's not sayin it's unuseable as a knife, just kee[ a fole along to touch up the edge. A friend of mine likes to say " If I stab you with a 7000 layer damascus sword, or a sharp stick, which will make you deader?" If the knife performs it's function, it's good. My first knife was made outta cold rolled, and an old fella used it for digging ginseng till the day he died.
