I am doing WIP on another forum, So I thought i might share with the people here.
I sorted throw the blades that was sent to me, I grabbed three heaveier ones and two litter ones that was a little shorter. To make it simpler on my I cut all the blades on one side for I could wire all the blades up on one end. I put a heavey chain the a lighter then heavey chain . Next I folded the blades in half and half agion to make a tight buddle.
I am useing stainless steel wire double up tight. If you have a welder I would cut all the chain to equal pieced then weld the ends and wire tie in the middle. I wanted all my blades to lay flat in the bundle.
When I forge weld I work my way from one end to the other on the billet. For the chain I noticed i can start forge weld when the steel is fumeing . I use a squre hammer to make a bar.
I use a squre hammer all they way throw until I get it billet like the last pic.
Next I took to the jack press and used some squre dies to work the billet down , Then I put my drawing dies on next.
I done this last night, I then put in the forge to annale the blade over night.
Next die I get the neaghbor to weld a handle on the billet i cut the ende off both ends then I grind the humps and dipps.
I grind the flat off ,Next I put my squre dies back in and start drawing the bar squre.
Iam working the steel at all welding temps. Next I the fold I grind the billet and get most of the junk off and i boaxe the billet for the fold.
Sorry I did not get a pics of the second weld, I drawed the blades out and wider with the squre dies.
I am useing a the squre hammer to even the billet up for the third fold.
I grind the flats on the biller for the third fold, then measure where i want the cut.
I made the fold at welding temp then i covered it with flux.
I set the weld with the hammer and anvil, then I take it the the press to start drawing it out. Then cam batteries dies.
