First you need to decided on how you want to finish your blade. I am going to use a sear grinder, starting off with a used 36 grit belt.
I work the spine and the tang to get them flat, I work my way throw the grits until i get to 50 grit on both side.Next I take a mill file and file the edge down both side to the even I work on side down to an edge then the other.
Next I use a 40 grit belt and work the bevels I hammered in trying to get most of the pits. WHen i get both sides i bleand the beveals and the flat togeither.Going throw the grits to 120 grit belt. Sorry no pics of this it was trying to rain.Next i take to my polish stand and take a 120 grit HF 4 by 36 in belt that make strip from and I sand it diangle until all the cratches out , you need a couple light to and look at the blades close titleing to diffrent angles.
Nect to the forge. I Normlized it once, then heat my oil up to about 100 degrees, or so. then checked the blade with a magnetic. Quanched it in some oil. check the edge and a file skated across it. Then put it some sand to clean the oil off, Used a wire hand brush to get the junk off.
Next back to the polishing station some more HF 12o grit paper to get it cbare clean steel. on both sides. A quick dip into miotic acid to get a glimps of the pattern
I well polish it more to a finer grit , then make a handle for it ,Then a etch in some warm vinger then hone the edge up,I get those picture next.
