Yep.. not sure on this bark tanning stuff.. perhaps if was patient enough to slip the hair naturally OR otherwise.. anyway I just tried the quebracho I bought over a year ago with a couple of deerskins and some hockskins and well I'm not real happy with the progress on the deerskins. They seem to be tearing right out of the frame REAL easy.. I'm sure it's because I'd already removed the grain that WOULD give the skins some strength but I really wasn't aware that that'd be such an issue.. apparently it is.. crap.. and they're a really FUCKY color.. sorry about the colourful language but it's not quite what I had in mind.. well will have to slip some fur and then retry the process.. I may like it.. Presently one skin is in the bucket just chillin' and the other is stiff as the hockskins I let dry stiff after oiling.. guess they TOO need oiling.. I'm also working on a sheepskin a neighbor left in a hide barrel.. that was nice to find. just need some energy and desire to soften and smoke it.. nothing quite so nice as brain tan!

I was hoping to make some hockskin bags with the bark tanned deer skins and hock skins, but I don't think so! Lol. I made this bag a while ago with plenty of brain tanned deerskin!
