Yes God Bless the USA! Thinking of the many who have served today myself.
We were blessed with a very mild warm day here, upper 60's but that will take a drastic dip here VERY soon.. my hair on deerskin is done and gone! Hooray.. guy saved me the trouble of heavily smoking it.. told him that it may need to be smoked well before he goes to washing it? dunno.. might just hang in a place too with a woodstove.. the skin smelled of smoke so.. could have been enough. Come to find out the guy did want some buckskin.. lol.. he said he didn't care, my 'customer'.. told me he just wanted to pay me to tan something for him.. didn't matter. he was happy... and so was I! nice to have some extra $$. Well plenty of deerskins around to keep me busy and the girls and I were fortunate to come upon a freshly killed doe on our travels yesterday.. was still kicking actually.. poor thing.. had MILK too so some young deer or deers have been orphaned.. very sad, what brutal deaths nature delivers to her wildlife. Anyway that might be what's for supper come Turkey Day.. lol.. no, probably not.. the venison is NOT a favorite among my kinfolk.. I must say that I do like quick sauteed tenderloin with plenty of garlic! good stuff.
Yes I do like the Buck Rub and we do need a few more posters.. seems as if the forum is being well read.
I'll be posting on the deerskins again soon most likely.. hopes are to make a coat of buckskins one of these days. Not sure about the smell of the smoke... would probably get a lot of stares wearing one about.. not sure I want the Ford smelling like brain tanned buckskin either, lol.. probably not at all normal wanting a buckskin coat! They just look comfy. And having one that I TANNED MYSELF.. lol... just seems like a nice goal.. I could be wrong.. hahaha.. I'm not into the re-enacting thing.. so.. well need to get a lot of scraping done soon!
