I 'cheated' and used my sewing machine fitted with a leather needle to stitch these moccasins up for my family. I used a pattern for them that I found in Jim Rigg's Blue Mtn Buckskin book. Love that book.

Thx. Yes I did tan them. I like to try tanning everything I can get my hands on. Probably a sickness! Ever since I took up tanning I look at all roadkill in a different way.

I like making that style, too Joanne! In fact, I built them over a felt liner from my Iceman boots and made a pair of Mukluks. It's like walking(snowshoeing) in your slippers. My feet were even warm at -20. Good to see you on this forum! Dave

hey dave do you have any pics of those mukluks you made.are they made of buckskin?we don't have no -20's down here,but i've been wanting to make me a pair of winter mocs to hunt in.ain't figured out a good way to water proof mocs either.even though they will never be completely water proof. i've looked at a few on different web sites but i'm still looking for ideas
