I never made it before but I know my kids won't whine about eating this made from venison, so I managed to finally slice some thin pieces from this deer the local fish and game brought to my house the other night.. man I was so tickled.. Well the story behind that was that I had just met him the day before and was supposed to be meeting him on site to get a deer carcass permit. you need one here in MI to pick one up legally..well when I got back someone else had already picked up that deer! So anyway he brought me this one! It was still warm.. daing!.. talk about delivery service.. I was thrilled. I gave him my drivers license and he started to write out the permit and I just dropped his tailgate and drug the little deer up to the house.. he told me he'd get it for me but I didn't have much trouble pulling it on the snow and ice that night.. and well didn't want to see him get his fancy uniform all dirty.. he is all of 24 yrs old.. bet his folks are real proud.. they have to know so much law.. not excluding homicide!.. those Fish and Game guys really do scare the crap out of a person. but anyway they seem to appreciate what I'm trying to accomplish here so I don't have anything to worry about long as I'm not breaking any laws.. so cool.
poor deer.. very tasty too I might add
Well so...I just put some water in a gallon size freezer bag and added plain old salt and brown sugar and some barbeque sauce and a little of this and that and plan to marinate it for a day and then use some shishkebob sticks to hang several of my slices over the top rack in the oven and put it on pretty low for just till it stops dripping pretty much.. is this how you all do this deer jerky thing?? thx
