We have been having a problem finding the right kind of cord to connect the JVC Mini cam corder to our PC in order to download data. We have one cord that is a six pin to four pin that connects to a firewall port but can not locate a firewall port. Do they sell a cord that connects from camera to USB? We have heard that there is a "card" that can be purchased that connects to the computer somehow, that makes a firewall port. Can anyone give us some suggestions? We have checked Best Buy, and Walmart and neither has what we need to connect the camera to computer. We have a N-force four SLI series mother board and Joe thinks the manual says our computer does not support a firewall port. What is normal/ EPP/ECP mode? What is three IEE 1394B ports? Any help would be appreciated. We are not able to purchase a USB cord that goes from cam corder to USB. Help.

What you have on the cam is a fireWIRE port. You can get a card for the computer to install one. I don't believe they make a cord that goes from firewire to usb, as the protocall (how the computer translates the data) is different. Its kinda like a Japanese man excitedly spewing forth the secrets of the universe at me in his own language; nothing wrong with his data transfer, only with my lack of ability to translate it. I used to own a computer store, and we installed them all the time. Remember to install the software that comes with the card or the silly thing will hook up physically, but still not work. The normal/ecp/epp thing only refers to printer speed. it does not help, or hinder the firewire.

Thanks for the information. We have to travel so far to keep purchasing cords and taking them back. I ended up refering to my manual (ya, I know) and typed in the exact JVC cord I need. I found the cable but still don't know if I have the port to plug it into. Thanks again, appreciate it. Dlt Did the weather get scary there where you are? We heard SC got hit pretty good by some twisters. I hope all is well with you and yours.

Yeah, it got pretty ugly here. One came too close to Sumter, so I got my hammer and knocked it all the way to Manning. Warned the rest of the storm that it REALLY didnt wanna see my reverse rain dance!
