Well this is one way to do it.. I haven't done it yet, but I'm getting ready to. I haven't attempted softening my thinned skin yet...I just thought i'd add some smoke first. I know Badhand does his skins this same way. Good thing I haven't yet gotten to sewing up some weakened seams on my lodge cover. The 20' lodge makes a great cover for smoking skins under. I thought I would direct some smoke into the area from the potbelly stove.. I can also get this little old oil salamander thing going and add some additional smoke as volume of smoke can just get the task completed sooner.. should probably set that salamander on an asbestos sheet so that I don't burn the lawn.. maybe a little fan added would be a good idea so there won't be too much uneven smoking to the bisons skin.

it's turning out to be more of an undertaking than i had anticipated Cody, I got things all set up to smoke the skin and decided that I would do it in the morning and I didn't give the fact that rain was coming in due regard so plans for smoking my skin were changed rather rapidly.. good think I had enough credit last year to buy a big shop vac cause it dainged sure came in handy yesterday.. lol.. so I had to fix up some of the wet hair and skin that'd pooled up on me during the night. These are some puddles there aren't they? LOL! it takes a while at 265 mph blowdrying to dry up even short fur, not to mention getting the skin driER.. guess you might know that wet skins take a while to dry even the ones that are pretty daing close to paper thin, ha! So..hope to hell this summer bison fur gets nice and good nuff.. Guy in TX is very patiently waiting for it.. not sure why.. probably cause he's got the bucks and likes me or something cause it sure ain't all that beautiful.. well it's beautiful.. it's just that it ain't 'prime', how's that?? Now it's in the polebarn and well the all day rain we're supposed to get hasn't yet arrived so I decided to grain some skins with the pressure washer yesterday instead of smoking bison.. I'll add a new thread..n show some 'grain'.
