Thanks, Thundermoon! Lord knows I love the attention ya give me, lol. I love that you appreciate the posts I post! All this brain tannin' stinks if you ask me! See it is all a labor of love and I sure 'ain't makin' much bread doin' it..but well the Good LORD above is what I have a lot of faith in and well I just do what feels IS the right thing to do and count on GOD to help me get what I need. HE doesn't always give you what you want but mostly I feel I can depend and trust God to give us what we truly need. I need folks like you that help cheer ya up when well this all can get pretty gory grim and totally gross if you let it! I don't know I grew up fishing in the St Clair River, downstate MI. Moved Up North country MI and well I stupidly put a young goat in a pen with big goats and sheep.. my fiber flock.. well terrible things happened and I ended up with a couple of dead goats! so guilty feeling that I was I said a prayer for the little goat to have a great life on the other side.. on the rainbow bridge,y/k? well anyway that little prayer and getting a mind set that I could skin a dead animal..well it took me farther than I could ever have imagined. Prayer is most powerful and without it, one might not have a 'chance in hell' to do anything, really.. so.. so anyway here I am taking in dead coyotes in the dead of winter.. the guy that brought it over owes a lot of money to others and well he wants me to tan this stinkin' yote that he nearly blew the leg and side right out of. bleeding all over, I'm tired..was last night anyway but brought it back inside..getting blood everywhere.. all my money seems to go for truck payments insurance, electric bills, STUPID telephone addictions.. I washed my new iPhone 4 the other day.. just not thinkin' y/k? generally I check my pockets before filling the washer.. well I guess generally I check them if I have any money in them! Well I'll really need to slow the heck down from now on! So this Sunday folks that are waiting for skins will have to wait longer cause some guy w/out any money brought me a shot up cyote that well just begs to be made into something useful dead.. I guess..grateful dead unlucky coyote.. he was in the wrong place at the wrong time I guess. I don't really know why I agreed to tan the dang thing because I had promised myself I was done doing this for people. Guess it's because well there's a certain excitement in well.. these animals.. Maybe they are a trophy.. Maybe this guy never got one before..well maybe he has.. well maybe he never got one and knew someone that could tan the dang thing for next to nothing or trade for his smoked pork loin or something.. eating this guys smoked pork loin will probably kill ya.. so there ya go.. I might have to buy wine with whatever monies I do make doing this SH*T just to clean out or antioxidize..whatever kinds of corrosion is probably occuring in my veins for eating unhealthy foods!..well this is all probably more than ya'll wanted to know, huh??? LOL ;D I took some pics this morning that well will probably fit under this header! Looks like a ghost cyote. hmm? or maybe just a snowy one! decided to just set him or her back on the porch and brush some of the snow off of it.. now, I need to wash down all that blood right outside the door..well maybe company will think better about using MY back door if they should happen to beat me to it! I need to print out some signs.. "If you're coming to visit my house, please make an appt. If you're coming to see me, c'mon in!" Trust me, some folks need messages like that printed right out cause folks can be damned cruel with their judgements. On the lighter side, this is a little mole that the horses found in the snow yesterday when our youngest daughter was out goofing around with them. It's a mole.. a snow mole I guess! Well probably like the Skinner's kids, most of my kids aren't afraid.. probably aren't afraid enough of messing with LIVE critters! You should see our oldest daughter catching sheep, wrangling them around and inoculating them! All my kids are pretty interesting, that way! Cute little rascal, it's all mostly black.. naturally I had to suggest.. "let's kill it and tan it's little hide!".. well I'm not sure where it is now..probably running around in my house somewhere .. lord, let's hope not! Anyway cute little thing hmm? This here is a pic of just off our porch. and then another of the critters looking for food around the side of the house.

Here's some deer skins waiting to be tanned. Most fleshed. There's a summer bison skin fleshed and needing to be framed for some guy that just wants one to hang on the wall of his garage.. the dummy paid someone else 40. to flesh it and why? I haven't a clue. I won't get that for finishing off the job and framing it.. he does make great venison sausage and stuff.. brings me boxes of deer legs.. course they're lots of work to skin and flesh those! ..so not much $$ being made here.. just making our house attractive to VERMIN!! uckkkkk BIG :sigh:.. I may have to tear off this neat little porch that stores wood off the basement because my own little rabbits running free are tunneling..well that makes it easy for the Norway rat to find a crevice somewhere to chew it's way into our lower level.. NOT COOL>> NOT COOL AT ALL!! So.. that's all depressing.. a lot of work goes into tanning summer OR winter.. a lot of labor.. this is all just a labor of love and I do appreciate that some's appreciate's it.. trust me on that!!

Try my best not to, Cody, thanks for caring. Thanks for the compliment too. I've got a lot wrapped up in hides and skins. I think that helping some out might help yourself out too? if that makes any sense? what goes around usually comes around so.. really pricing stuff like this accordingly will leave you with NO customers.. or one time customers.. mine is totally word of mouth and they're always back with more so.. I just have to try to pace myself in order to not just get totally sick of all this. I was pretty content when looking at this skinned coyote that it's beautiful face was satisfying.. it was gory and cutting up up totally gruesome and disgusting but after done salting it just looking at it reminds one of the beauty of nature, y/k? I know that this fellow will probably pay me whatever I wanted for the skin. that's what he said..but yes it is hard charging someone that really hasn't ANY money.. lol.. nice to have someone though that one can depend on when one is in the same shoes. If I ever needed anything, he'd be there ready to help out.. guy cut a tree down for me.. with his own saw..one that no one else had time to do and never expected a dime for doing it either so..guess what goes around comes around. I think God looks real fondly on folks like that one. So guess I am very blessed in many ways.. maybe just the ability to recognize that.

Had these ideas that I was just going to cut this newest coyote off just below the ears and no legs attached.. material for a cyote skin coat possibly.. ha! best plans.. well I got the yote home and stretched out on our kitchen floor and Well.. what a nice face on this pretty female coyote. Real dark face with lots of white around its mouth. Kind of a big snozz, lol. So,,, now she's all skinned and waiting with the last one to be 'hat' or hanging cased skin material.

Ah.. thought I'd sit in front of the puter and post some more tanning in MI in the winter pics and muse a little about what I've already done.. Surely more coyotes will be showing up soon. It was about 20 degrees when I was fleshing those two with a powerwasher the other day. Now were are expecting a winter thaw so I'll be possibly scrambling a bit on the deer skins gathered this fall! Poor critters..

That's a really cool idea 2Feathers.
TM Did you think that 125. was too much or what? You should take up brain tanning large coyote furs, I think you might have a change of opinion! The furs here in MI are really nice.. Not something one might want to keep on a wall for sure. Very tempted to start cutting them up for a coat and say the heck with the paws and face masks.

No way not enough...Especially if your talkin about the one pictured with the beading..I reackon out here 125.00 would get a good tail..Of course when i worked for the county out here in the winter time i'd just cut them off fresh road kill.

TM,that pic I posted is a wolf & it is valued at $3,9990,so I dare say $125 for a prime brain tanned coyote pelt is a bargain.2feathers.
